Making My Debut

For the first time in my adult life.....

I went KARAOKE... yeah me... singing.. well uhh.. more like croaking. I have never, ever sing .. nah uhhh.. even when my family members were sooooo into karaoke, I stood in the background and clap for all the brave souls. Now, I have to say.. my late dad.. he the bomb.. he sang and he has a good voice.

It was the eve of Diwali also known as Deepavali and the company gave us the afternoon off. The beauty of living in a multi cultural society, we celebrated all kind of festivities and of course the public holidays that comes with it. So, the girls decided to let loose and go singing. I, who has never once hold a mic in my life of course was curious to try out this new.. uhh.. activities.

Annie booked a room at a local KTV lounge. Me, Nur and Kak Ros conveniently lost our way in the damn mall trying to locate the damn KTV lounge. When we step in the lounge, I swear I thought I was in the sixties chinese movie. There was one cashier busy gossiping on the phone, the lounge was dark (we were there at 3pm) and we the only customers at the time. Knowing its going to be a long session of croaking, we smuggled in our own soft drinks and tidbits (ahh the convenient of carrying big bags!!).

Su, was already singing her blues away when we arrived. Fion... well.. uhh.. all she did was singing slow achy breaky damn sad songs, as if some no good men done broke her heart to pieces. I've had it, took the mic, jam me a J.LO song.. yeah.. me J.LO starts dancing and blast off to my heart content.

Well, needless to say... I'm keeping my day job for good!!! I must have croak up bad, cuz we all end up laughing so hard that I was tearing up. I had a ball, it was good fun, we laughed, we sang (well mostly I just did back up) and we drank up our smuggled drinks. By the end of the 3 hours *singing* session, my throat hurts, I start to sneeze and exhausted.

By the end of the evening, I was down with a damn flu bug..... sigh.... so much of my karaoke debut.

Will I do it again... yeah... lol.

You picked a good one for your debut
J. Lo is not really known as a diva but she can carry a tune and always picks some good beats.

Glad to know you enjoyed yourself.
