Syawal is finally here, as Muslims around the world celebrated their Eid Fitri after a month of fasting in the month of Ramadan. The first day of Syawal, is the busiest day for me, as we have an early starts of cooking and preparing for our guests who will be visiting throughout the day.
The most tiring day is also the most wonderful day for me, as I get to meet up with most of my cousins from both side of my parent. Mom and I are just grateful that even after my dad passing, his nieces and nephews still visit my mom on this joyous occasion and pays their respect just like when dad was alive. This is also my saddest day, as I'm always reminded of my dad and how excited he is each time Syawal is here. We have celebrated each Ramadan and Syawal for almost 8 years without him and it's never get any easier.
As usual, mom is always emotional when it comes for us to seek each other forgiveness, a tradition that been carried on from one generation to another. The young will seek the old, apologising for past mistakes, hurting words and such. On this day, one supposedly to start a new slate and be a better person. I tried...lol... to be a better person, but I know along the way I make mistakes and hurt someone or two or three...lol. I know what I need most is patience and the need for understanding. I used to think, the older we get, the easier it will be... boy am I wrong...
Nonetheless, on this joyous month I am grateful for a lot of things. My mom for one, the fact we get to celebrate together. All my cousins, my closest families for thinking of us. My cousin Jumi and her 3 sons who gonna grow up and be a heart breaker...lol... who came all the way from Netherlands to celebrate the Eid with us...I'm just so happy to see them. I'm also grateful to have couple of folks that I call friends, who been there for me and still sticking around..lol.
I'm tired, my body aching from entertaining the guests... but I'm happy.
From me to everyone out there who celebrating Eid Fitri, regardless of what color skin, race or where you from... SALAM EID FITRI WAL FAH IZIN...
Peace..
